New starter: Daniel McDougall joins the team as a Cyber Security Engineer

I joined Equilibrium, to further my career in Cyber Security – to gain exposure into working with a wider range of Cisco Security products and to further my skills in penetration testing. I like that Equilibrium have a tight-knit team of passionate security professionals with such a strong focus on personal development.

I was born and raised in South Africa and emigrated to England in September 2018. I studied MCSA in college and achieved the highest results across all the CTU campuses in South Africa. I then obtained a CCNA in Routing and Switching and in security. My interest in Cyber Security started when I job shadowed a Cisco partner after high-school, gaining exposure within a SOC. With the CCNA Security, I received professional recognition by the NSA and CNSS (Committee on National Security Systems) which motivated me to obtain the Certified Ethical Hacker certification. I’m currently training to get the OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional) to further my dream career of penetration testing!

Outside of work I practice playing the guitar or running. I also enjoy competing in e-sports titles such as CS:GO, having done this at the highest level in South Africa. I’d like to think I’m a bit of a thrill seeker, having jumped out of a plane at 13 000 ft, scuba-dived off the coast of Mozambique 40m below, and ran the Birmingham half marathon last year. Once I’ve settled in, I’ll definitely be visiting all the roller coaster parks England has to offer!

I look forward to growing within the company and maintaining the high level of professional expert service they already deliver.
