Cyber Awareness Month Week 4: How can we help protect your business from cyber threats?

As October is Cyber Awareness month, we have joined the national campaign to raise awareness about the importance of Cyber Security.

Over the course of the month, we have had weekly themes across our social media channels including: GDPR, Ransomware and ‘Advice from our experts’. This week our focus has been on the services we offer and how they can help safeguard your network.

What cyber-threats do businesses face?

Ransomware-  As one of the most common cyber-threats facing UK businesses, most people are aware of ransomware and its potentially damaging effects.

While 54% of UK businesses are said to have been hit by a ransomware attack in the past year, over half of these paid the ransom.

But do businesses know how to safeguard their network?

Here at Equilibrium we only provide the most intelligent security solutions on the market. Our service ‘Ransomware Protect’ utilises Cisco Umbrella, a state of the art cloud based application which is proven to stop 85% of ransomware attacks.

It can identify potential security breaches within seconds, instantly blocking any sites which it suspects could contain ransomware.

Phishing- Phishing scams are becoming more sophisticated and difficult to detect. Worryingly 8 million phishing emails are opened daily, with 800,000 of those going on to click on the fraudulent link.

As 70% of computer infections  are caused by human error, staff awareness training is vital.

Our Phishing Simulation service allows you to test how cyber aware your staff are.

How does it work?

  1. Simulated phishing emails are sent out from a supposedly ‘credible source’.
  2. We then monitor the clicks of the staff who are successfully duped.
  3. If you click on the faux link, you will be redirected to a series of training videos and quizzes.
  4. At the end of the process we will provide you with a detailed report of the findings.

Malware- Hackers are always monitoring organisations for weaknesses, which is why it is important to ensure you safeguard your networks from harmful malware.

A Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW), is a sophisticated hardware or software-based network security system. It uses global threat intelligence which can block malware trying to enter your network in real time.
