Equilibrium Security is extremely proud to announce that they have progressed onto the next stage of the Entrepreneurial Spark programme that is powered by NatWest.
What is Entrepreneurial Spark?
Entrepreneurial Spark is the world’s largest business accelerator for early stage and growing ventures, providing expert enablement and support to entrepreneurs across the UK. The focus of the programme is on the individual, developing entrepreneurial mind-sets and behaviours to enable acceleration and growth.
Equilibrium underwent an intensive selection process to get onto the initial programme six months ago, which included a pitch interview in the style of ‘Dragon’s Den’. It was a hard-fought competition with only a third of the businesses that applied being selected. Over the last six months Equilibrium’s Managing Director Anish Chauhan has received one-to-one business mentoring to provide guidance on how the business can capitalise on opportunities in the cyber security market. Equilibrium has successfully gone through a second round of interviews to secure a place in the nest, the next stage of the programme.
What encouraged Equilibrium to join the business accelerator programme?
“As a small business we’re often all doing everything, so finding the balance between operational aspects of the business and strategic growth can be difficult. Equilibrium has turned to business mentors in the past but they tend to either work with brand new start-ups or businesses that have been trading for long periods and are trying to find operational efficiencies. Equilibrium has really benefited from joining the Entrepreneurial Spark programme and couldn’t recommend it highly enough to companies that are looking to accelerate their business.” (Anish Chauhan: Managing Director Equilibrium Security)
Since joining Entrepreneurial Spark how has Equilibrium evolved?
“As a director with a technical background I started with a very technically focussed growth outlook. In other words, I felt that as long as we increased our technical offering, then we could grow. However, in the relatively short time we’ve been on the programme, I’ve learnt that there’s so many more facets to business growth. I have identified how important it is that every part of the business is on board with the direction that I am taking the organisation. I am very lucky that the team are very committed and all share Equilibrium’s growth ambitions.” (Anish Chauhan: Managing Director Equilibrium Security)
Joe Trodden, Enabler at Entrepreneurial Spark, Birmingham, said: “Anish impressed at interview with what he has done to date, clearly being somebody who was going out and making things happen. Attitude and response to challenge are key factors for us in determining who will benefit most from our programme and Anish has shown over the first 6 months that he has a true growth mindset, always looking to improve and develop himself. He has embraced the need to develop his strategic business proposition to maximise future growth and is building the team he needs to execute. We look forward to continuing to support him on his journey to create a market leading organisation.”
Looking ahead what is Equilibrium looking to achieve?
Equilibrium has ambitious growth plans that will see them recruit additional heads in both the technical and marketing departments over the next twelve to eighteen months; building a strong foundation for continued growth. One thing that all of Equilibrium’s customers agree on is the value of the services that are provided; Equilibrium want to build on this to help take more companies on their cyber security journey.
