How to Achieve Cyber Essentials?
In order to achieve Cyber Essentials certification, organisations need to address each of the 5 key components, ensuring appropriate Cyber Security practices are implemented and documented.
To achieve basic certification, organisations complete a self-assessment questionnaire and then submit it to a certification body, such as Equilibrium Security, for review.
What does Cyber Essentials Cover?
If you’re wondering how to pass Cyber Essentials, then these are the key elements your organisation will need to consider:
- Firewalls & Internet Gateways: These secure internet connections and prevent unauthorised access.
- Secure Configuration: Organisations need to demonstrate that their systems and devices are securely configured to help minimise vulnerabilities.
- Use Access Control: Organisations should have strong user access control measures in place to ensure that access is permitted only to authorised personnel.
- Malware Protection: A range of effective measures against malware risk should be in place. This should include anti-malware and anti-virus software.
- Patch Management: Security patches should be applied and regularly updated to ensure adequate protection against known vulnerabilities.
Achieve Cyber Essential certification with Equilibrium Security
Cyber Essentials Plus is a more advanced and comprehensive assessment of your organisation’s Cyber Security posture.
- A certification organisation conducts tests of your security protocols to assess their effectiveness and to identify any potential weaknesses.
- Cyber Essentials Certification is valid for 12 months, after which your security measures will once again have to be assessed.
